Valdesalici, S. 2013. Pronothobranchius chirioi n. sp. a new annual killifish species from the Niger River drainage, with redescriptions of P. kiyawensis, P. gambiensis and P. seymouri (Cyprinodontiformes: Nothobranchiidae). Killi-Data Series 2013, 33, figs. 9a,b, 10a,b,c. Diagnosis: It is distinguished from all congeners by the following unique combination of characters: males with about 20-30 spots on flank, each having a smaller diameter than the radius of the pupil, spots on proximal portion of anal fin, pectoral fin hyaline, pelvic fin reaching anal fin, dorsal fin tip reaching centre of caudal peduncle, females without spots; dorsal fin with 14-15 rays and 30-31 scales in median lateral series

Notes
Status specie: Not unanimously confirmed. Little or no data on its maintenance in captivity Very interesting genre evolutionarily speaking. Very close to Nothobranchius and also related to Fundulopanchax. Possibly quite a few species to be discovered in this genus due to the large geographical area where the 4 described species have been found.
